RUCISO Kenya is scaling up implementation of Spirulina Value Chain and Business Mentorship Project through Kahawa Soweto Women Development Group (KASODEV) with support from Marie Schlei Verein. One of the greatest achievements of this project is that beneficiaries and their clients have reported relief from many life style complications such as diabetes, ulcers, allergies and high blood pressure and they are living healthy lives. The next steps is to help the current beneficiaries in scale up the project, reduce the cost of production and build their capacity on marketing including use of social media in order to maximize on profits. We plan to train more women to embrace Spirulina in order to amplify the voice of women in super-food market locally and internationally.
RUCISO Kenya has been able to link up women & youth with organizations for training on basic skills of value addition on local produce such as milk, bananas, sweet and English potatoes to produce yoghurt and batter, banana crisps, jam and peanut butter, flour from sweet potatoes, soaps and detergents. This project has helped create jobs for many of our members in various parts of Nairobi. We are in the process of training them on marketing and networking skills and linking them to local and international markets.
We have been able to work with Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) to facilitate women with business management and technical skills to access loans.
Rural & Urban Community Initiative Support Organization (RUCISO Kenya) is a non-governmental, not for profit women’s organization in Kenya.
