RUCISO recognizes the importance of empowered Governments and communities. We build the capacity of women and youth in Kenya to participate in governance hold governments accountable for service delivery. We are working with FES and other partners in enhancing the capacity of slum women to participate effectively in local government with impressive results. 

Among the most remarkable results was the women’s utilization of skills in presenting their priorities to political candidates and made demands resulting in re-carpeting of Bima Road in Kahawa West and installation of karavats along Congo Road, which were hitherto impassable.

What leason did we learn? When women are empowered with the right leadership and decision-making skills, they catalyze development in their areas.
