Mugane is an expert on gender and governance with experience spanning over 20years. She is a consultant on gender and political participation. She is passionate about gender equality and empowerment of women and youth. She is keen and committed to advocating for a level playing field where women and men participate effectively at all levels of development. Her greatest strength is programming, organizational development and people skills.  Prior to her current job, Agnes served in various roles in the women movement and local government in Kenya. She is instrumental in initiating several development programmes on gender and women empowerment such Gender Centres of Excellence in Local Governments in Kenya that saw Local Authorities embrace gender mainstreaming in policies and operations, Spirulina Value Chain and Business Mentorship (on-going) that is changing the lives of women in Kenya.

She has a strong background in Anthropology (BA) from Moi University and Masters in Sociology and Community Development from University of Nairobi. Other training include: Gender and Development, Gender and Local Government, Financial Management for NGO’s, Evaluation and Conflict Management.
