RUCISO has engaged in a project on livelihood development where several Spirulina trials have been carried out resulting to a product that has multiple health and nutritional benefits (boosting of immunity, reducing impact of cancer, stabilizes blood pressure, diabetes, allergies, ulcers and stress among others). The product has been given a clean bill of health by Kenya Bureau of Standards (permit no.44550) and Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology that has carried out nutritional analysis. The innovation has been scaled up through a project titled, “Spirulina value chain and business mentorship”

Next steps include further research to develop more products and testing the contents of final waste product with the objective of developing an organic fertilizer.
